Minikin Character Doll
"God bless all in this house!" So goes the Irish greeting, and our Minikins are ready for a lively visit!
Our Minikins' clothing has been inspired by and loosely based on outfits worn by Sean "Trooper" Thornton and Mary Kate Danaher in the 1952 movie, "The Quiet Man". Set in Ireland, the movie is a showcase for John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara as Sean Thornton and Mary Kate Danaher.
Sean is ready for some hard work in the soil, planting roses just like his dear Mother had grown in the very same house, and his outfit in this scene is what we've chosen for our Wool Doll. His jeans are cuffed (imagine finding enough extra fabric to do that on John Wayne), and his sleeves are pushed up -- all ready for action. It's the tweed cap that really sets the whole off, though, and the glass seed-bead "buttons". Isn't he the dapper one?
Sean's first sight of Mary Kate takes place when she's herding her sheep through a gorgeous Irish hillside meadow, and this is the outfit we've chosen for our Maureen O'Hara Wool Doll. Her skirt is tied up in the back to keep it from dragging on the ground, and her scarf keeps her warm on the chillier days. It's the bare feet that win your heart, though. But let's not lightly pass over the gorgeous auburn mohair locks used to make her hair. All-in-all, she's a sure crowd-pleaser.
Each of our Minikins is handcrafted, one at a time. The wool-blend felt clothing is all made by hand with hundreds of tiny stitches. The heads are needle-felted in one piece.
You will receive a pair of Minikins made especially for you, similar to the one seen in the photos above. PLEASE ALLOW THREE WEEKS FOR US TO MAKE YOUR DOLLS. There will always be slight variations in design and detail. Minikins are one-piece, non-poseable dolls.
